Cologne/Munich, April 7, 2025 – Visitors to the bauma construction machinery trade fair in Munich are able to experience DEUTZ’s extensive product portfolio for themselves from April 7 to 13, 2025. After six years, including a pandemic-related break, the engine manufacturer is returning to the leading construction machinery trade fair with its own stand, thus underlining the importance of the construction sector to the company.
Under the banner ‘We ensure the world keeps moving’, DEUTZ is showcasing innovative developments and offering comprehensive, system solutions that meet its customers’ requirements, from engines powered by diesel, hydrogen, and biofuels such as HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) to hybrids and fully electric drives, battery components and gensets, and digital innovations in the service business.
Dr. Sebastian C. Schulte, CEO of DEUTZ AG, explains: “The construction sector is undergoing a shift toward greater climate neutrality. We want to play our part in this huge task by offering the optimum solutions for the specific requirements of our customers. In this context, it’s all about achieving the right mix. Electric drives offer users in the construction sector an efficient and eco-friendly solution. With the acquisition of UMS Holding B.V, we can significantly accelerate development in this area. We also firmly believe that the internal combustion engine is here to stay for some years yet, most notably in heavy-duty applications. When run on hydrogen, modern biofuels, or in hybrid systems, where DEUTZ combustion engines serve as range extenders for battery-electric drives, combustion technology is already able to contribute to decarbonization.” All DEUTZ engines are approved to run on HVO.
Markus Villinger, a qualified engineer, was recently appointed to head up the business with traditional diesel engines (DEUTZ Classic). He has been responsible for product development, the technical customer interface, product management, and sales in this segment since April 1, 2025. Most recently, he was Executive Director Sales & Aftersales, Product Planning & Strategy Powertrain at Daimler Truck, and has more than 30 years’ experience in the automotive and engine sectors. Of his new role, Villinger said: “DEUTZ has an impressive history and a global brand, and its Dual+ strategy has set the company on the right path. The internal combustion engine will be with us for a long time to come, and I look forward to working with my team to keep the world moving with DEUTZ engines.”
Appropriately, one of the highlights put on show by the Cologne-based drive specialist is an efficient internal combustion engine, the DEUTZ TCD 3.9/4.0. It was specifically developed to offer customers in the off-highway segment a powerful and reliable solution that can cope with the most challenging conditions. Distinctive features of the all-rounder are its high efficiency and power output range of 75 to 129.4 kW. Numerous options make it modular and suitable for a wide range of applications. The engine entered full production last week at the DEUTZ site in Cologne-Porz, one of the world’s largest engine factories.
The hydrogen-powered series production engine, part of the DEUTZ New Technology segment, will be on show as a display model and, by way of practical example, installed in a powerful excavator. The DEUTZ TCG 7.8 H2 is the first hydrogen combustion engine to be EU Stage V certified.
DEUTZ is also showcasing its wide range of services and extensive network of more than 1,000 service partners around the world. A focus here is on the well-established Xchange program featuring professionally reconditioned components and engines. By using an engine that has been given a second life, DEUTZ customers have an affordable way to use their equipment for longer while permanently reducing their costs. The innovative telemetry platform Fusion Hub from DEUTZ is a powerful, manufacturer-neutral solution for monitoring and optimizing equipment fleets in real time, irrespective of the individual asset’s location. The online tool provides configurable dashboards and versatile functions for analyzing networked machines and for predictive maintenance. This allows operators to increase the productivity of their equipment and reduce their operating costs at the same time.
